Welcome back! Today we’re beginning our journey of reading through the novels of Andy Weir, and discussing his iconic debut novel, The Martian.

This book might be one of the most successful indie books ever made, for good reason. This is an extremely well-researched thought experiment that’s filled with clever ideas and hard science.

Yet it's easy to understand. The Martian has some big scientific concepts, yes, but they’re explored in such an accessible way. That’s why I call all of Andy Weir’s books ‘simple yet smart’.
