Robert de La Rochefoucauld was one of the most dangerous saboteurs in Nazi-occupied France, and one of the hardest to kill.
At just 19 years old, he was already blowing up railways, sabotaging power stations, and disrupting German supply lines behind enemy lines. His missions were bold, fast, and devastating, but they came at a cost. He was captured, interrogated, and sentenced to execution more than once.
Each time, he found a way out.
He leapt from a moving truck on the way to a firing squad, stole a Gestapo limousine at gunpoint, and escaped through checkpoints while being hunted across the country. Later, after destroying a massive Nazi munitions factory near Bordeaux, he was captured again and thrown into a fortress prison.
This time, he killed his guards with his bare hands, stole their uniforms, and walked out.
When the Gestapo locked down the entire region and set roadblocks on every route, he did something even more unbelievable. He dressed as a Catholic nun and walked straight through enemy checkpoints in broad daylight.
