@JVHShack picked up a lunchbox PC enclosure for me at VCF Midwest 2023. For $20, it seemed like a good deal, as it included the matching keyboard and the screen seems to be in good condition. However, it was missing all of the internal components.
In a previous stream, I was able to verify that a Trident TLCD9100B video card I found on eBay was the correct video card for the LCD screen. However, I discovered that the drive cage conflicts with most motherboards (including the one that I was using for testing), so I've been on the hunt for a motherboard with the fewest physical conflicts.
The other day, I found this ROLM Systems UM386-R motherboard on eBay (the place where I buy the things I later regret™). It looks like it will fit the case with a minimum of mods: I think I only need to remove the 16-bit portion of one ISA slot to allow the drive cage to fit the case.
Will the motherboard work? Will I successfully remove the conflicting edge connector? Will I determine that the unpopulated slot is for a 387DX or Weitek 3167? You'll have to watch to find out!

Last time I had COMPUTER on the bench, I started the process of removing sockets. I didnt get very far, and even caused some trace damage. But what I didnt realize at the time was that the handle for my desoldering station was failing. And @JoesComputerMuseum has since given me another suggestion for removing sockets with problematic solder, which I successfully used on the Apple ][ Plus Clone motherboard I bought on eBay (the place where I buy the things I later regret™).
Except that Apple ][ Plus Clone motherboard wasnt a regret, yet COMPUTER was almost @Mac84s regret... but I digress.
I now have a new handle for my desoldering station, and it made quick work of the solder on my VIC-20. Maybe it will also make quick work of the solder on COMPUTER. Because it looks like Im going to have to save computer one corroded IC socket at a time (repeat 88 times - Great Scott!).
Will I be able to remove more than one socket an hour? Will I cause more trace damage? Will Clarus the Desoldering Station hold out? Youll have to watch to find out!
