This was a short-notice working stream to put my "talking" Emerson 500EC back together again.
Specifically, I needed to complete the Creative Music System upgrade on the sound card, attempt to test that upgrade, clean/lubricate the floppy drives, and re-assemble the system.
Did the CMS system work? Is The Secret of Monkey Island's music stream-safe (no, it gets composition claimed)? Did I get the 500EC back together again? You'll have to watch to find out!

![Saving COMPUTER (My Apple ][ Plus Clone from MCA), One Socket at a Time (Computerized Start™ Live)
Ive launched a merch shop: https://shop.jdmcs.com - use code JUSTINTIME for 5% off all Computerized Start™ merchandise through at least July 31!

Last time I had COMPUTER on the bench, I started the process of removing sockets. I didnt get very far, and even caused some trace damage. But what I didnt realize at the time was that the handle for my desoldering station was failing. And @JoesComputerMuseum has since given me another suggestion for removing sockets with problematic solder, which I successfully used on the Apple ][ Plus Clone motherboard I bought on eBay (the place where I buy the things I later regret™).
Except that Apple ][ Plus Clone motherboard wasnt a regret, yet COMPUTER was almost @Mac84s regret... but I digress.
I now have a new handle for my desoldering station, and it made quick work of the solder on my VIC-20. Maybe it will also make quick work of the solder on COMPUTER. Because it looks like Im going to have to save computer one corroded IC socket at a time (repeat 88 times - Great Scott!).
Will I be able to remove more than one socket an hour? Will I cause more trace damage? Will Clarus the Desoldering Station hold out? Youll have to watch to find out!

![The Macintosh IIsigh: More Diagnostics, More Soldering, More Speed? (Computerized Start™ Live)
The Macintosh IIsi was launched as a lower-cost alternative in the Macintosh II series. To keep costs down, Apple used more electrolytic capacitors, and the surface-mount electrolytic capacitors from the early 90s are past their expected lifetime. In addition, despite the power supply being made by Sony, the capacitors in it are also known to leak (though I cant help think cost tweaking by Apple led Sony to use lower grade capacitors).
Last time we looked at the IIsi that would chime and then death chime, I found two broken traces and ran some bodge wires... only to have more data bit errors, not fewer. IIsigh. Before I start major drastic chip replacements on a now fragile PCB, lets take one last look at what Diagnostic Mode is telling us. Because I might have made a mistake running those bodge wires.
And if we get the IIsigh booting, we will finally full-send that promised 25MHz upgrade attempt.
Will Diagnostic Mode lead us to the error? Will the chat come in clutch (of course)? Will we see why the IIsi was so crummy after installing the 50MHz oscillator? Youll have to watch to find out!
