Earlier this year, I found a Mac Plus on Mercari for $80 shipped. And due to a "bang-up" job of packing by the seller, well, it got banged up during shipping. The Mac Plus works perfectly, but the case is unusably broken - so much so that the Mac Plus is sitting face-down on a rubber mat for fear of the bezel plastic failing and allowing the CRT to fall.
PSA: A Classic Mac carrying bag is insufficient padding inside of a box. It was intended for carrying, not shipping.
I didn't return the Mac Plus because Mercari didn't allow for partial refunds - I would have had to return everything, which would have rendered the Plus into a useless pile of plastic and glass. Not cool for a CRT tube with no hints of screen burn, and a keyboard with no broken keys.
I've been looking for a case, and finally found what could be the case: a "for parts" Mac Plus on eBay (the place where I buy the things I later regret™) for $80 shipped. No keyboard or carrying case, but...
Since the power of online marketplace déjà vu is strong at this address, I've decided to livestream the unboxing, just in case this deal turns into another instant regret... Just like the Mac Plus from Mercari that started this adventure.
Will I receive a box full of broken glass, plastic, and silicon? Will this "for parts" Mac Plus just work? Will I be looking for yet another Mac Plus case? You'll have to watch to find out!

Last time I had COMPUTER on the bench, I started the process of removing sockets. I didnt get very far, and even caused some trace damage. But what I didnt realize at the time was that the handle for my desoldering station was failing. And @JoesComputerMuseum has since given me another suggestion for removing sockets with problematic solder, which I successfully used on the Apple ][ Plus Clone motherboard I bought on eBay (the place where I buy the things I later regret™).
Except that Apple ][ Plus Clone motherboard wasnt a regret, yet COMPUTER was almost @Mac84s regret... but I digress.
I now have a new handle for my desoldering station, and it made quick work of the solder on my VIC-20. Maybe it will also make quick work of the solder on COMPUTER. Because it looks like Im going to have to save computer one corroded IC socket at a time (repeat 88 times - Great Scott!).
Will I be able to remove more than one socket an hour? Will I cause more trace damage? Will Clarus the Desoldering Station hold out? Youll have to watch to find out!
