KOJRO Retro innovations | The inner workings of the PSU on the Laser200 RAM card from Arctic Retro @kojroRI | Uploaded September 2023 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
Slightly off topic, as this is an analog repair. I got this memory card in the mail from my friend Tommy over at Arctic Retro. He started to repair this card, and the symptom was that the -5V and possibly the 12V was missing on this card to supply the 4116 memory chips. There is a separate PSU part of this card, that is a power supply that converts a 9V DC supply to 12V and -5V.
I go a bit into the theory and the inner workings of this supply, but a real in dept deep dive into how to make a simple Switch mode it is not. But I go into the parts needed to understand what I am doing in this video (I hope). #RetroComputer #Repair #Laser200
