These clips were shot over the last few days 80km south of the Arctic Circle and the video starts and ends with the signature mountain of Akureyri, Súlur, which rises 1,213 meters above sea level, at the end of the mountain, after the time-lapse drone-climbe scene up to Súlur, we see Mount Kerling which is 1,542 meters high. This entire mountain range and the valley we fly over, Glerárdalur Valley, is a popular outdoor recreation area. If you look closely, you can see a little hydroelectric power plant in the gorge which produces a part of Akureyri's power need, and it looks as they will get a good year now in 2026 with all this snow. The closed road is the old highway over Víkurskarð mountain pass, I was going to use it as I always do because the road toll for the tunnels is not what my travel budget needs, and I like that road very much! But some things we cant control so at least i capterd a few scenes for my upcoming video about the road tunnes that i had to use that day to film for the channel in East Iceland.
