Of all devotions to the Blessed Virgin the Rosary is the most widely diffused among the faithful. In its present form, according to tradition, it was popularized by St. Dominic, the founder of the Order of Friars Preachers, in order to stem the flood of the Albigensian heresy, then spreading far and wide throughout Europe. He propagated this form of prayer in obedience to a revelation received from the Blessed Virgin, to whom he had recourse for this purpose, about the year 1206, and to him was due the spread of a devotion, which for many centuries has produced the most marvelous results in the Christian world. The Rosary consists of fifteen decades; each decade, of one Our Father and ten Hail Marys, and one Glory be to the Father. No other prayers of whatever form are part of the Rosary. Those that are said before or after it, or after each decade, are merely pious additions. By "mystery" is understood an event in the life of our Lord or of His Holy Mother. These Mysteries are divided into three series of five each, called the Joyful, the Sorrowful, and the Glorious Mysteries.

Glorious I. The Resurrection
Glorious II. The Ascension
Glorious III. The Descent of the Holy Ghost on the Apostles
Glorious IV. The Assumption of Our Lady into Heaven

45:24 Closing Prayer
It has become customary to say only the third part of the Rosary, that is, five decades, each day. In that case, though you may say either the Joyful, Sorrowful, or Glorious Mysteries at your choice, yet it is the prevalent custom to say the Joyful Mysteries on Mondays and Thursdays as well as Sundays of Advent; the Sorrowful Mysteries on Tuesdays, Fridays, and the Sundays during Lent; and the Glorious Mysteries on Wednesday, Saturday, and the Sundays after Easter and Pentecost.

![[QwM: Ep3] What is the difference between Catholic and Christian?
https://hausjakob.org/2023/04/12/qwm-ep3/
This is probably the most frequently asked question, as I evangelise. It is also a question frequently asked and answered by many in real life, in social media and in popular culture. In this episode, I would point out only one key difference that fundamentally differentiates Catholicism from all other denominations and communities that claim to be Christian. This difference is that only the Christ in Catholicism is the actual, objectively existing Christ, but the Christ in other denominations, either Protestantism or the so-called “Eastern Orthodoxy”, is a subjectively produced image or understanding of Christ Jesus.
