đ°Excerpt from âKobe Bryant Made A Reporter Do 200 Push Ups After He Bet That Kobe Could Not Make A Left-Handed Half-Court Shotâ article by Aaditya Krishnamurthy:
Kobe Bryant was one of the most fiercely competitive players in the history of the NBA. Kobe almost relished the idea of people underestimating him, as it put a chip on his shoulder that he used to motivate him and perform at the highest level. One reporter learned this lesson the hard way.
During a training session, a reporter challenged Kobe Bryant to make a half-court shot with his left hand, and if Kobe did, the reporter would have to do 200 push-ups. Kobe, to his credit, made the shot without being fazed at all. Bryant kept his end of the deal and then made the reporter do 200 push-ups or at least as many as he could.ïżŒ
Fans of Kobe Bryant knew that he wasn't going to miss the shot, even before he took the shot. Bryant had a mindset, unlike any other player in the history of the NBA, having unrivaled confidence in himself and his ability to make shots or take over any game that he was playing.

Excerpt from âI had a responsibility at times to protect him from himselfâ - Kobe Bryantâs longtime trainer opens up about their time together article by Nicole Ganglani:
For Vitti, Bryantâs success came to fruition because of how the physical and mental aspects of his game bolded well together. This is the kind of balance that challenges athletes because not every single player is as strong mentally or vice versa. Some may be extremely talented but donât have the drive and determination to be great, while others possess the right mindset but may not have the skills. What made Kobe a five-time champion was his ability to strike a balance between mental and physical skill.
âHe replaced those words with - can and will. And somehow he would convince himself that he could do it and he did. It was a mental [and] physical thing. Not just mental, not just physical, it was a combination of those. He was an enigma. He was intellectually brilliant at everything he did,â Vitti added.
Thereâs probably nobody that can attest to Bryantâs greatness and work ethic behind the scenes more than the one and only Gary Vitti. The long-time trainer deserves just as much praise as Bryant gets because, after all, Vitti was who guided the all-time great to be the legend that he will forever be remembered as.
