September of 1906 left historic devastation on the central Gulf of Mexico coast, when a category 2 hurricane struck coastal Mississippi on September 27, 1906. The unnamed hurricane had large impact in both damage and death, in southern Alabama and northwest Florida, particularly in the cities of Mobile, Alabama, and Pensacola, Florida. This is an account of that historic storm.
