This week: a retraction that lands close to home, a fifth batch of Pentagon UAP files, new disclosure rules from Washington, and a full slate of guest conversations.
The journal Remote Sensing retracted the 2022 paper by Filippo Biondi and Corrado Malanga that started the Hidden Structures Under Giza story, following a reader complaint and an editorial investigation that found methodological flaws and statistical errors serious enough to undermine its conclusions. The retraction covers only that original paper. It does not touch the larger 2025 claim from Biondi and Armando Mei of eight cylindrical structures and two cube-shaped chambers extending nearly two kilometres under the Khafre Pyramid, presented at Cosmic Summit that June. That claim remains unconfirmed by excavation, but the paper most often cited as its scientific foundation is now retracted.
On August 7th, the Department of War posted 41 documents, images, and videos to its public UAP database, spanning 1950 to the present, including a pilot's account of a silent, roughly 500-foot triangle over Bagram Airfield in 2002 and infrared footage of a slow-moving object over a populated Middle Eastern area. None of these cases have been resolved by AARO. Separately, an ODNI memo issued July 31st lifted existing NDAs barring officials from reporting UAP information, with agencies given 30 days to establish a formal channel through the new Pursuit Task Force, a structural change researchers expect to matter more over time than any single release.
