The Sheekey Science Show | The future method to rejuvenate fertility? @TheSheekeyScienceShow | Uploaded February 2022 | Updated October 2024, 4 days ago.
Fertility declines with age and is impacted by genetics and other lifestyle factors. Understanding early development and gametogenesis (egg and sperm development) could lead to better treatment methods.
In this video we take a look at in vitro gametogenesis - making egg and sperm cells in a dish - using a combination of cellular reprogramming and techniques to turn human induced pluripotent stem cells into precursory egg and sperm. We also take a look at the challenges (epigenetic changes) and how the process has generated fertile offspring in mice.
