After 10 days stranded on a mountain, the off-road forester has finally recovered itself. That's right, all 3 rescue attempts were failures. In the end we had to climb up the last steep ascent and out with FWD and tire chains.
The main reason that the first 2 attempts were failures is because the rear wheels on the Forester were locked by a pin that caused the spider gears to fail. On the trail we were able to take apart the rear end and remove all gears so we could use the front wheels, but we never thought we'd be able to climb the last peak in FWD. Lucky for us tire chains are magical - we couldn't clear them before the lift, but we will always have them with us going forward. Thank you to all our subscribers, and to those who donated to help.
