Well, I couldn't resist. I had to get back to this flooded tunnel that appeared to be endless! This time I had a very special guest with me- Frank from the Exploring Abandoned Mines and Unusual Places YouTube Channel! Frank was able to dig up (no pun intended) some information on this place to ease they mystery of it. The Oak Creek Mine isn't actually a mine, but a tunneling endeavor to connect with several other mines in the area. It was originally planned to be 9,800 feet in length, serving as a main haulage and drainage tunnel for several mines. With the assumption that economic obstacles were harder to get through than a solid mountain, the tunnel was abandoned at 2,840 feet from the portal.

There are several areas in the tunnel where ground water is flowing out of drill holes, some of them being piped to the outside. The farther you get underground, you begin to see interesting miner's art and messages from long ago! At one point, the tunnel intersects a fault where ground water is showering down like a small waterfall!
