In the movie "The Flash," Barry Allen, also known as The Flash, helps Batman and Wonder Woman stop a bank robbery. Afterward, Barry revisits his childhood home and is overwhelmed by memories of his parents. In an emotional state, he accidentally travels back in time and prevents his mother's death. However, this alters the timeline, and Barry loses his powers.
Barry finds his past self in an alternate 2013 and helps him gain powers. They try to assemble the Justice League but face difficulties due to the absence of key members. They seek the help of an older Bruce Wayne, who has retired from crime fighting. Together, they locate Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl, instead of Superman. Barry and Kara rescue her and then successfully restore Barry's powers.
With their powers restored, the team prepares for a final battle against General Zod and his Kryptonians. During the fight, Batman and Supergirl are killed, but Barry uses his powers to go back in time and save them. However, every attempt to change the outcome leads to Zod's victory and their deaths. Barry realizes that the timeline cannot be altered.
Different timelines from the DC multiverse start merging into Barry's disrupted timeline. Various versions of Superman and The Flash from different eras appear. The chaos culminates with a surprise appearance by a darker version of Barry, who has mutated due to his constant attempts to alter the timeline. He tries to kill Barry but ends up killing himself and the younger Barry.
Barry decides to undo his actions and return to his original timeline. He successfully exonerates his father, who had been wrongly imprisoned for his mother's murder. Barry also gets a date with Iris West. However, he receives a call from Bruce Wayne's phone and is surprised to see an older Bruce, portrayed by George Clooney, step out of the car.
The film ends with a scene featuring Barry and Arthur Curry, Aquaman, discussing the multiverse theory. They contemplate the existence of various Batman versions but note that Aquaman remains the same in every timeline.
The movie's final moments leave some loose ends and unanswered questions. The erasure of Ben Affleck's Batman from Barry's universe is uncertain and may or may not be permanent. It is hinted that Aquaman, portrayed by Jason Momoa, may continue in the DC Extended Universe, possibly as Lobo or as the same version of Aquaman.
"The Flash" does not provide a concrete conclusion and is primarily focused on sending off the Snyderverse, the previous DC cinematic universe, in style. The film reintroduces past DC franchises as different realities within the multiverse, solidifying the Snyderverse's place in DC history. The final image of Barry smiling as his tooth falls out symbolizes the film's uncertain and abruptly ended journey.
