My first tiki weekender, The Breezeway Getaway, started off with a few unexpected challenges… and day one definitely kept us on our toes. From early hiccups to last minute pivots, we had to move fast and keep the rum pouring. But the second those doors opened, it was game on. I got an unexpected gift from a hero in the modern tiki revival!
Live music set the tone all night long with killer performances from The Hi-Lo Hifliers, The Volcanics, and my own band, The Hula Girls... bringing surf, rockabilly, and hapa-haole jazz to the stage.
And just when you thought the night couldn’t get any better, we closed things out with an unforgettable burlesque performance from modern pinup legend Bernie Dexter.
This was ONLY DAY ONE… and things only get wilder from here.
