Welcome back to the farm! Today I’m hoping to wrap up the last day of diking before the sprayer moves in behind us. With around 70 acres left to finish, it’s a race against the clock as we fuel up, move pivots and wheel lines, and try to stay ahead of the weather.
Along the way, I share some thoughts on the changing state of agriculture and how many family farms have disappeared over the last decade. It’s something that’s affecting farming communities all across America, and it’s something I think about often while working in the field.
We also take a look at some storm damage from earlier this year, move irrigation equipment, and of course deal with another unexpected breakdown right at the end of the day. Just another day in the life of farming!
