Have you ever had the feeling that something was watching you?
Maybe it happened in the middle of the night. Maybe it was during a season of grief, loss, or overwhelming fear. Maybe you've brushed it off as an overactive imagination... or maybe you've never been able to explain it at all.
Across nearly every culture on Earth, people have told remarkably similar stories for thousands of years—stories of shadowy figures, night visitors, unseen presences, and entities that seem to thrive wherever fear takes root.
But what does the Bible actually say?
Do demons literally feed on fear... or do they simply weaponize it?
In this episode of "Babbling on in Babylon", we take a careful look at folklore, psychology, sleep paralysis, shadow people, historical accounts, and—most importantly—Scripture. Rather than sensationalizing the subject, we ask whether these experiences are psychological, spiritual, cultural... or perhaps a complicated combination of all three.
We'll explore questions like:
• Why do so many cultures describe similar shadowy entities?
• What role do trauma, grief, isolation, and fear play in these experiences?
• Can psychology and spiritual warfare both have something to contribute to the conversation?
• What does the Bible actually teach about fear, demons, and spiritual opposition?
Finally, we turn to God's Word to see what it really says about deception, temptation, spiritual warfare, and the hope believers have through Yeshua HaMashiach.
Following the main episode, stick around for the **Post-Rant Aftershow**, where I step away from the script and share a deeply personal testimony about a season in my own life that I believe involved spiritual oppression, how grief opened a dark chapter in my life, and how I ultimately found peace and freedom through faith in Yeshua.
