"In this chemistry experiment, we will be exploring the reaction between lead nitrate and potassium iodide. When these two ionic compounds are combined, a double displacement reaction occurs, resulting in the precipitation of lead iodide. Follow along as we perform this exciting experiment in the lab and observe the formation of a solid precipitate. Whether you are a student studying chemistry or just curious about chemical reactions, this video is sure to be educational and engaging. ![Mouse Hunter [AP Bio Unit 1]
How does camouflage impact survival in predator-prey interactions? In this AP Biology classroom simulation, we model a predator-prey relationship to explore how natural selection shapes adaptations in desert rodents. This hands-on activity is part of an AP Biology Storyline unit focused on the adaptations of rock pocket mice and kangaroo rats. The unit introduces the topic of natural selection and covers the topics of chemistry of life including properties of water, elements of life, and biological macromolecules.
In this walkthrough, you’ll learn:
✅ How the simulation models predator-prey dynamics
✅ The role of camouflage in prey survival
✅ How to collect and analyze data
This engaging, phenomena-driven lab provides an introduction to natural selection which will be explored again later in Unit 7: Natural Selection. Whether youre an AP Biology teacher or a student looking for a deeper understanding of evolutionary adaptations, this video provides everything you need to bring this simulation to life!

![Density of Water [AP Bio Lab 1.1]
Hey bio friends! I created this tutorial video showing a lab conducted to collect data to experimentally determine the density of water. The lab also serves as an introduction to using a micropipette.
In the lab, students use micropipettes to transfer water into a test tube in 200 μL (0.200 mL) increments. The mass of the water is measured after each transfer. A graduated test tube is also created in the lab that can be used for later experiments to quantify amounts of gas produced in biological reactions.
Here is a link to the video which shows how the data collected in this experiment can be analyzed in Google Sheets using linear regression.

Density is one of the important emergent properties of water covered in Unit 1.1 of the AP Biology Course & Exam Description (CED).
