The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Closed Beta – Honest First Look (No TV Show Needed)
I spent way too much money on the collector’s edition just to play the closed beta early. This is my completely unfiltered first impressions after actually playing it — no prior knowledge of the TV show, no hype, just straight talk.
I went in judging it purely as a game: Does it explain the world? Does combat feel good? Do I care about the characters? Does it pull me in without needing homework?
**What worked:**
- Tense sci-fi atmosphere in places
- Cool space visuals and ship interiors
- The idea of a cinematic RPG with choices, squad banter, and story
**What didn’t work:**
- Combat feels messy and unsatisfying
- Rough animations, facial expressions, and polish issues
- Weak story hook for new players (I needed more to actually care)
- Some sections felt tedious or like I was fighting the game itself
Overall I’m giving the current beta a cautious **5.5–6/10**. There’s clear potential here, but it’s still buried under too many rough edges.
This is NOT a final review — it’s a closed beta and things can change. But right now I’m more cautious than excited.
