I've been feeling sick the last week, as a result this video is more of a shitpost style than my usual. The recent patch 1.09 buffed the power of Claws weapons despite them doing insane damage already, so I took the Bloodhound Claws for a run through the game with a Keen affinity and Bloodflame Blade applied onto it (and the Cragblade Ash of War for bleed resistant bosses).
The outcome was as balanced as expected with every boss melting in seconds and fights being effortlessly no damage, and most being first try (excepted... that one woops).
Are these claws balanced in their current state? No. Are they overpowered and should be nerfed? Probably, but they're fun to play so whatever :) Part 2 against optional bosses like Mohg and Malenia incoming eventually, maybe. Soon :tm:.

A compilation of 6 different ways to dodge Malenias flurry slashes combo on melee builds, found after a lot of testings and verified ingame by myself and other challenge runners. This attack is also known as the multihit 1000 slashes combo, waterfowl dance, whirlwind attack and other fancy names to describe this bullshit slashes spam that was probably not playtested before release.
Malenia, Blade of Miquella will always do this attack upon reaching 70-65% hp, so you can preemptively space it out and trigger it at a distance that lets you outrun the first combo. Malenia can then use it again during the rest of the fight, so learning how to avoid random point blank flurries is the most important part of any Malenia kill.
Since she catches you no matter what when rolling away, you need to roll into and behind her once she catches up for the 3rd combo particularly.
00:00 Outspace
When Malenia starts the attack at mid-range or more from the player, you can run in the opposite direction to outspace both the 1st and 2nd flurries. Then turn around as she pauses before the 3rd combo and roll under and behind her to perform a tracking juke to both dodge hits and lead her to miss and land away from you for the final slashes combo on the ground.
00:15 Outspace variant
Similar concept than the first outspace, only if you dont have enough space behind you to outrun the 2nd flurry combo then you must instead roll into her to i-frame the whole flurry (this is the only one of her 3 combos that can be entirely i-framed) and then roll behind her to redirect the 3rd combo just like before.
00:27 Bloodhounds step Ash of War dodge
This is essentially a longer quickstep with more i-frames that you can apply on any weapon. It is dropped by a Night Cavalry boss spawning at night time on the bridge north of the Lennes Rise site of grace in Dragonbarrows. Apply this on your main weapon or a secondary light weapon (e.g a dagger) and spam it while running away from Malenia to easily dodge even point blank flurries.
00:42 Light roll dodge
A very precise and difficult to time dodge. You must be in light roll to perform this dodge as the point is to roll outside of her range. Last recourse action when shes starting a close range flurry and you dont have any other way to survive.
00:55 Throwing knives bait
This works by throwing any type of projectile consumable (knives, pebbles, etc) which causes Malenia to input read something being thrown at her ; she will then immediately dash sideways to dodge it before running to the character to perform a counterattack. However if she was preparing to do a flurry attack, this will cause her to trigger the attack immediately where she stands before gap closing on your character, thus making it very easy to dodge it from long range.
1:11 Stagger interrupting the attack
Staggering Malenia out of the flurry attack seems to work mostly if you have a weapon able to stagger her reliably in a few hits and break her hyperarmor on this attack. Causing a frost or bleed proc on her will also stun Malenia out of the attack, so high bleed weapons will have more luck in doing so.

A bit messy at times and terrible RNG with butterflies bullet barrage attack in p2 that denied me punishes several times and extended the fight by a good minute that was unnecessary. Im still keeping it because its a neat kill and the clutch ending was too good to not have.")

A hundred or more hours spent studying a boss, embodied into one spectacular fight. A solo endurance fight against my favorite boss of the FromSoft series, Beast Clergyman / Maliketh the Black Blade on level 1 (RL1) NG+7 (max new game cycle) without upgrading weapons, no status effects (bleed, frost, poison/rot etc), no ashes of war/skills or Blasphemous claw parries (since they deal a % of max health in damage on parry, counter-intuitive to an endurance low damage fight).
This is meant to be a pure fight condition to showcase as best as possible the most aggressive and latest strategies Ive developed since the game release, including the new p2 follow up baits and incorporating throwing knives in the middle of his combo mixups to damage his posture and keep him from doing arbitrary poise resets via the projectile attacks, which is one of the main annoyances in prolonged phase 2 fights where ripostes damage are of important value. The fight being on 125% speed, on top of being a test of reflexes, also help prove these strats are safe and reliable, since they can be successfully pulled off even with much less time to react as long as the correct timing / positioning is respected.
For the sake of making the fight more intense, dynamic and reaction intensive, I used a speedhack contained within Cheat engine to set the game speed to 125%, or x1.25 speed. This affects the game engine itself, causing both the player and the boss to gain speed as well as accordingly increased stamina regeneration. As a result this also sped up the skybox cycle, the trees/grass moving, etc. It does not however speed up the audio files such as Malikeths opening and death dialogue or his boss theme, which serve as proof of the entire game being in 125% speed and not simply the footage. This can be distinctly heard at the end of the kill where I turn the volume to max for it.

A solo, melee only kill at Rune Level 1 (RL1) of Draconic Tree Sentinel without hits. This is a weirdly designed fight where half the Sentinels recoveries after a heavy attack feel like theyre made to bait players into punishing and then slap them in the fact with an insta slam or a 180 degrees fireball. Between that and the boss ability to deny you from coming close for dozens of second if he decides to spam his red lightning rain and fireballs, I felt like hit and run strategy worked better than lingering at his side for too long.
Build : Rune Level 1, Frost Scavengers sword +15, Blood Bandits curved sword +15, Radagons Soreseal, Faith talisman, Ritual sword talisman, +10 dex potion and fashion armor.
