ADHD isn’t just about being easily distracted. There’s another side that often gets overlooked: hyperfocus.
It’s when attention locks in so deeply that everything else fades—time, surroundings, even basic needs.
This isn’t a contradiction. ADHD is about regulation of attention, not a lack of it. When something is engaging, focus can become intense and absorbing.
That intensity can be powerful, allowing deep productivity and creativity. But it’s not always aligned with priorities, and it can be hard to shift out of once you’re in it.
The goal isn’t to fight it—it’s to understand it and use it more intentionally.
