I'm back tackling bottles, well, they're vases really, bud vases? Let's just go with vase. Recently, you may have seen me throw another batch of forms similar to this, although these have much narrower necks. As always, when I'm testing out a new shape, I typically throw a few with slightly differing forms to try and seek out which I like best. Narrow and tall? Wide and tapering?
I often feel as if my standard bud vase forms with their inward sloping rims are lacking a sense of elegance and length that shapes like this hold. These pots with longer necks are certainly more challenging to the throw and as always, what's so important with pieces like this is proportion. That's the hardest factor to figure out and it's what I'd like your help with in this weeks' video.
What follows is the typical trimming, biscuit firing, waxing, glazing and finally the reduction firing to cone ten, (1290ºC).
I'd love to hear your thoughts between the various pieces, and the two overall styles of bottle/vase. Let me know in the comments and it'll decide which I make into a larger batch during my next making cycle.

*I throw using both a Rohde HMT 500 & 600 potter's wheel and fire using Rohde kilns too, the electric is a TE-200 and the gas kiln is a KG-340.
