I love drumming along to this Charlie Daniel's Band classic! Great fun, and irresistible fiddle playing :-)
As some of you will know, I posted a video of this a year or two ago, using my acoustic kit. I am re-visiting a few of my videos, using my new Roland drums, just for the laugh really! And hopefully to convince a few of you sceptics that the the kit is great!!!!
As I did last year, I over-play the end section. I always felt that the original should have had more 'epic' drum fills, and now I just about have the ability to do the fills I always imagined, here they are! Hope the Charlie Daniel's fanatics don't mind too much.
Can you tell I am starting to get the hang of iMovie? Just discovered the whole 'ken burns effect' thing, which seems to basically mean I can zoom in and out. Fun eh?!!!
Don't know what else to say about this one, except to say it is a great one to practise along with. Good for timekeeping - coming out of the chorus' it is very easy to go into the snare thing too fast and to hit that bass drum too early.
I noticed on the playback that in the two sections just before the big drum fills, my timing is off and not quite with the original drummer. as usual, I am rushing things, probably in wild anticipation of the 'drummy bit!'. Oh well - I hope it does not detract too much from your viewing pleasure :-(
Managed to keep hold of my drum sticks this time! If you have not yet watched my 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic' on the Roland drums, posted a few weeks ago, you must - I drop a stick spectacularly :-)
Do you like the new camera angle? I realised that I can now set up from this side of the kit and still show you all the important bits. With the acoustic kit the floorn tom would be in the way of the bass drum. I'll probably do the rest of my videos like this, unless you all say it is horrible.
Next up - SuperTramp Dreamer (live version) on the Roland drums. Then Ocean Colour Scene - 'Riverboat': something I needed to play at an audition recently, and something which has just shot to the top of my 'all-time fav' tracks to drum to ever' list :-)
