Across Africa and the African diaspora, generations have grown up learning more about the histories of others than about their own. Stories of Great Zimbabwe, the Haitian Revolution, the Zanj Rebellion, Timbuktu scholarship, Benin artistry, and countless other chapters of African achievement, resistance, and innovation have often been absent from classrooms and public discourse.
But forgetting history has consequences.
When societies lose touch with their past, they risk losing perspective, identity, and the ability to understand the forces that shaped their present circumstances.
Through historical analysis, documentary storytelling, and the African philosophy of Sankofa, this episode examines the cost of forgotten history and why recovering historical consciousness may be essential for building a stronger future.
