The Angolan Civil War was directly after the Angolan War of Independence. After the Carnation Revolution 1974, Angola had been granted its independence and had been split up into three factions: the MPLA, the FNLA and UNITA. What followed was a mass civil war, with foreign intervention, and of vital importance to the Cold War.
