Mice just LOVE baby food cheezies and you can use these for various enrichments: clicker training, food hiding games, mouse rugby, courage challenges and wrestling matches. Old logs with lots of holes in them are wonderful for food hiding games. Mice have to find the cheezy bits, dig them out and destroy the log to get at them, providing lots of mental stimulation and fun. If you hold a cheezy, competition escalates, leading to lots of shoving and squeaking, as they compete for the best spot to chew on the cheezy or break a piece off. This really helps make the more timid mice tame, they see the others competing for the treat, so they also have to come close too, to participate and get their share.
This video was filmed a few months ago when we still had baby mice. In this video my intern Rachel attempts to socialize a few of the little ones, which is difficult with Aunty Amara around, who feels VERY strongly that babies belong in nest boxes lol :)
This video was taken a few months ago so is a bit out of date, but too cute not to post. The main characters in this video are: Knox (grey and white), Amara (black and white), Athena (black-eyed white), Trixie (young satin red gold), and Cloe (fat satin red gold, Trixie's mom). Summer (light yellow tan) is seen here when she still was a baby. The other babies are Frost, Jade and Jasmine.
