Sorry for so few uploads recently, CVC is in flux right now. I am busy building a new mousery and studio plus working on a film project I got government funding for. In the new year CVC will be back in form with a lot of fun new content :)
Now to this video:
I have two interns right now and one of them set up this little Christmas set for filming. We had a ton of fun and so did the mice. I have uploaded this video uncut, it is a bit long but it shows how much the mice enjoy film sets, how they have as much fun investigating everything as we have filming them. At first they are a little shy but things soon turn into 'party time!!!!' lol They are just so much fun to work with, 15 years of mouse keeping and I am still so amazed by them :)
Mice in the video in order of appearance:
Bonnie (gold and white): the matriarch of the mousery. Bonnie is the mother or grandmother to almost all the mice in my mousery right now. She is being treated right now for an inner ear infection (in the video she is still a bit 'spinny' because of this) but Baytril is a wonder drug and she is getting better rapidly. She is being kept in the hospital tank, along with Melody and her litter. Bonnie just LOVES babies and is being a big help with baby care. In the video everyone is excited to see her again, since it has been a week since I took her out of the main mousery.
Hope (black and white): Hope is Poppy and Oscar's daughter and Bonnie and Knox's grand-daughter. She is a sweet, confident little thing.
Knox (white with grey spots): Knox is the father and grand-father of most of the mice in my mousery. He has the zaniest little personality and a ton of energy. Since he has been neutered, he is quite the hit with the ladies. Neutering has mellowed him out enough to become very affectionate with them and now he is always surrounded by a gaggle of adoring young females. He is my little Hugh Hefner lol He shares the mousery with his son Albert who is also neutered. Albert is not as popular with the ladies and not at all popular with his dad. As a result they have divided the mousery into two territories, the females are free to move from one side to the other but the two males stay on their side to avoid fighting. Once in a while though Knox will sneak over to Albert's side, give him a quick punch in the face with his little front paws and then run squeaking back to his side. Love my little Knox, he is such a character :D
Dove (gold with a white face): Dove is Knox and Gem's daughter and Oliver's full sister. She is a very beautiful little mouse, confident and always into things.
Dusty (sandy, slightly long haired): Dusty is a very beautiful but very shy mouse. When I do the daily role call to make sure everyone is O.K. (I do have 18 mice right now) she is always the last one I find.
Marigold (white and gold): Marigold is Knox and Bonnie's daughter. She used to be a very tame and friendly mouse but then she discovered she could jump out of the mousery and have a ton of fun running free. As a result I had to keep her in a small escape proof tank for a few weeks and she has never forgiven me for that. She stays safely now in the mousery but she will have nothing to do with me. She is a very smart, independent little thing.
Athena (black-eyed white, long haired): Athena can be summed up with one word: angelic. She is not just beautiful, she is one of the friendliest, most good natured, most loving mice I have ever owned. Always the first to greet me, she just likes to hang out. She is great with all the other mice and just LOVES babies. I will use her as an aunty for the next litter that is born at CVC. She is such an empathetic mouse that she is very sensitive to any fighting that happens in the mousery. If there is too much fighting she will go catatonic from the stress, and if it gets too bad she will even go into convulsions. Because of this I have to manage things carefully with her and make sure that she never gets too stressed, especially when I am introducing new mice. She is the first mouse I have ever had with this sort of issue. She just cares too much. My favorite mouse in the mousery right now, I just love her. She is Knox and Bonnie's daughter.
