On 23rd June 1932, The West German Federal Prosecutor announced he’d had ordered court action against an actress, along with a member of the Frankfurt police force, Herman Westbeld.

The charge, "supplying a foreign intelligence service with information on occupation troops and political conditions."

The actress had a secret wireless transmitter with which she communicated with persons abroad, the Prosecutor said.

She was alleged to have tried to obtain details of plans for West Germany's contribution to a European Army.

The actress was Maria Knuth. MI5 investigators uncovered the spy ring in which she was involved. The ring was in communication with its foreign employer by means of a secret transmitter.

Where the transmitter and antenna system were located isn’t clear. This information was never presented publicly.
