Watch as two giant cranes with a combined lifting weight of 1300 tonnes lift huge pieces of the replacement Greek Street bridge in Stockport.

Stockport station has been closed for 21 days; an unprecedented occurrence, while the bridge is replaced.

The old 67 year old railway bridge has reached the end of its service life and the new, state of the art installation by Network Rail will mean that the West Coast Mainline that passes underneath it won't be troubled by the new bridge for at least 120 years.

The cranes, the bridge and the whole project is an example of the amazing engineering work that takes place on Britain's railways.
