This is my project for my American Studies 324 "American Immigrant Cultures" class analyzing a piece of culture and how it is reflective of the zeitgeist, or period in terms of culture, from which it was made. For the project, I chose to look at Walt's 1950 cartoon "The Brave Engineer." As you will see, it is a remarkably pro-America cartoon against the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Also, there are some norms from the time reflected within the film. This was a very fun project to make and I hope that you, too, will find it amusing, entertaining and educational in terms of animation and U.S. history. Hope you enjoy!
