If you enjoy Renaissance music, then we have a treat for you! In "The Book of Madrigals,” the Amarcord ensemble presents a diverse collection of madrigals by Renaissance composers from around Europe. The group's five singers perform both a cappella and with a small instrumental ensemble consisting of Hille Perl (viola da gamba, guitar), Lee Santana (guitar and theorbo) and Michael Metzler (percussion).
The 18 secular Renaissance songs were recorded on April 1, 2014, in and around Villa Godi in Northern Italy. You're sure to enjoy this collection of some of the best-known and most beautiful madrigals of the 16th century, including fiery declarations of love, deep sorrow at parting, erotic allusions, and bawdy humor, presented in a picturesque setting!

Amarcord is a vocal group ensemble of five men based in Leipzig. It was founded in 1992 by former members of Leipzig's renowned St. Thomas Choir. The group's repertoire primarily consists of music from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. However, the singers also collaborate with contemporary composers. The group previously went by the name Ensemble Amarcord, until shortening its name to Amarcord.
