Please help me in my quest to visit every region in Russia! How? Really easy: just please consider SUBSCRIBING and leaving me one of these on the video πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Here's where I stand as of now:

Moscow βœ”οΈ
Moscow Oblast' βœ”οΈ
Saint Petersburg βœ”οΈ
Leningradskaya Oblast' βœ”οΈ
Vladimirskaya Oblast' βœ”οΈ
Yaroslavskaya Oblast' βœ”οΈ
Ivanovskaya Oblast' βœ”οΈ
Krasnodarskij Kraj βœ”οΈ
Tulskaya Oblast' βœ”οΈ

Which means I'm at 9/85. Still 76 to go! Hopefully a lifetime will be enough ⚠️

In the 10th episode of the Russian Series, we indeed step foot for the first time in Tula, the capital of the Tulskaya Oblast'. Just a few hundred kilometres south of Moscow, Tula is home to around half a million people, and is considered by many as a proper Soviet town. For most, it's even the most Soviet town you can still find in Russia!

To be fair, in Tula you can see some interesting features and sights that definitely remind you of the Soviet era. You have the usual Lenin Square in the centre of town, a Kremlin with proper red walls and it is filled with Soviet architecture.

In particular today we are taking a sleeper train from Moscow, although the train ride is less than three hours, so no chance that we're going to get some sleep this morning. The scenery out of the window is a bit dull, and fortunately the clouds and the rain that accompanied us on the road made room for a bright, although really cold, sun to shine all over the streets of Tula. It was quite windy admittedly, so apologies for any wind noise you might up here and there πŸ™

In chronological order, we visit Lenin Square, the Kremlin and the museum of weapons. Russians are obsessed with wars, and if you've been to Russia already you might have sensed that. Apart from the tanks in exhibition at the train station, Tula is famous for its weapon museum, not far from Lenin Square. The entrance fee is 450 rubles, around €5 πŸ’΅

In the museum, you can see tanks on the outside, and five floors of exhibits ranging from the times of ancient Rus' all the way to the 20th century.

After that, I went and checked in into the most luxurious hotel, right on Lenin Square: the notorious Hotel Armenia πŸ‡¦πŸ‡²

It is quite common in FSU countries to see not only streets and squares, but also hotels and restaurants that are named after Soviet toponyms. That's why there are so many hotels named Kiev, Moscow, Rossija, Ukraina, and many others, including the very same hotel that I decided to spend the night here in Tula.

Provincial Russia just has so many hidden gems! πŸ’Ž

WHO AM I?
I started making videos for Youtube when I was a university student. I was always trying to find cheap getaways to do some traveling in spite of the adversities put in place by being a broke university student living on their own! Traveling became more and more a fundamental passion of mine, and now that I'm gradually moving on to make a job out of it I couldn't be happier, and I can only continue making this kind of videos both for mine and your enjoyment!

I also run an ONLINE SHOP with TRAVEL MERCHANDISE, feel free to check it out here πŸ‘‰ bit.ly/2x1Zzjf
