We marvel the human eye, with Dr. Ahmed Gomaa, PhD, MD, Ophthalmologist.
In this episode, Dr. Gomaa explains the wonderful structure of the human eye, and the magnificent process by which the human eye is formed during the formation of the embryo (embryogenesis). The complexity and supreme function of the eye is exemplified as we hear to his explanations about the ultimate resolution of the eye, it’s clarity, it’s optical parts, compared to its hyper-compact size, and we make a comparison to the most sophisticated human optical equipment!
This will be a multi-part journey, where we shall cover:

Dr. Ahmed has special interest in cataract surgery, corneal and advanced ocular surface diseases. He completed two highly specialized fellowships in the UK; first for two years in Sussex Eye Hospital, focused on anterior segment surgery, and keratoprothesis, the second in Birmingham with emphasis on management of corneal disorders, OCP and ocular surface disorders. Ahmed led eye care programs in more than 15 countries, he is a world-renowned expert in international ophthalmology and teaching young ophthalmologists.
Ahmed has strong academic and clinical experience. He graduated with honors from Kasr-Al-Aini medical school in Egypt. He completed basic and higher ophthalmic training in Kasr-Al-Aini teaching hospitals, he holds master’s and PhD degrees from Cairo University. Ahmed also holds a master’s degree from London University, and he is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow. Clinically, he is an experienced ophthalmologist who worked in the UK for more than 12 years, with special interest in anterior segment, ocular surface disorders and advanced corneal surgery. His work has been recognized and published in different peer reviewed journals. Ahmed currently works as a consultant ophthalmic surgeon in Blackpool Victoria Hospital in the UK. He is also an adjunct assistant professor of ophthalmology at Truhlsen Eye Institute, Omaha, USA.
