The Imperial Army is closing in on Tokugawa Yoshinobu and what's left of the Shogunate in Edo. However, there are those that arent ready to give up such as Hijikata Toshizo, vice commander of the Shinsengumi. His plan leads to the Battle of Utsunomiya.
Despite this Edo, the seat of Shogunal power, falls. Tokugawa Yoshinobu has Katsu Kaishu negotiate with Saigo Takamori for a surrender. This would be known as the Fall of Edo and was a major event in the Boshin War.
