The neolithic standing stones at Callanish on the Isle of Lewis are a wonder to behold in themselves, but more so when one marvels at the prehistoric lunar observatory they appear to be. Recent research has now given us proof that the builders of these monuments knew exactly what they were doing in terms of celestial alignments.
