In this talk titled “The Aborting of the American Family in 1776” Peter explains what he means by this title. Henry F Brownson famously said in his 1897 speech at Notre Dame University: “In our country, except in rare instances, the family expires when the husband and father dies. We, as a people, have no ancestors, no family traditions, no homestead that has remained in the same line for generations and around which cluster all the family associations and recollections.” Gordon S Wood wrote that the American revolution of 1776 was profoundly radical. But since most people like Wood have always been gatekeepers to the actual deeper truths we are not surprised that in America there is a profound ignorance about the sudden and thorough abolition of all the inalienable rights of the firstborn sons. At least from 1066 and William the Conqueror to 1776 almost all of the Western world i.e. Europe practiced primogeniture or giving the father’s position to the eldest son after the father’s death. Along with the leadership position in the family came either a total inheritance or the biblical double portion.. The American revolution destroyed that practice both socially and legally almost miraculously in a very quick time. Instead now in America all the siblings would share equally in their former father’s authority. They would together rule the family by a radical democracy. But Peter explains that there is not a snow ball’s chance in hell that the family can survive such an arrangement. Therefore since a nation was started by a family and consists of families and American has their families almost all erased after the father dies, as Brownson explained in his speech, we are in a huge dilemma. This is the American experiment at its essence and it must collapse under such a foolish and ridiculous family government.
