How many of your crops actually make you money? Most farmers have never sorted the list. When they do, the math is shocking: 8–12 products typically generate 80% of total revenue. Everything below that line is seed cost, bed space, labor, and stress that drags your operation down.
This video walks through the exact 7-step exercise: list every product (not crop — product), add total revenue, add beds planted, calculate revenue per bed, sort highest to lowest, draw the 80% line, and decide what stays and what goes.
Jill Duncan runs an 80/20 rule on ⅛ acre — 80% of beds in proven crops, 20% experimental. Revenue up every year on the same plot.
