Fusion energy has long been seen as the “energy of the future,” but the future is moving closer every day. As new companies push the boundaries of technology and governments explore pathways for oversight, cooperation will be essential to make fusion a safe, reliable, and publicly trusted source of energy. This session brings together voices from domestic and international nuclear regulators, industry, and the Department of Energy to discuss how regulations, technological advancements, and collaboration are shaping the near-term deployment of commercial fusion machines. Panelists will share how they are tackling today’s challenges while anticipating the move from first-of-a-kind designs to scaled commercial deployment of fusion technology.
