Happy Texas Tortoise Day!

South Texas is the only place in the U.S. you’ll find Texas Tortoises.

They thrive in hot, dry landscapes full of prickly pear cactus, their favorite snack.

We’re teaming up with the McCracken Lab at @island_university to support this threatened species and rewild tortoises that were mistakenly kept as pets.

If you’re lucky enough to spot one in the wild, leave it be. Just let it mosey on its way. #TexasTortoiseDay
