This film depicts NCAR scientists testing a launch vehicle for Global Horizontal Sounding Technique (GHOST) balloons at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah in 1967. The scientists inflate a GHOST balloon and launch it from the GHOST wagon. Photography by Robert J. Wilson. The video was originally silent but we found a recording of a lecture given by Ernie Lichfield in which he narrated this film for an audience. The audio clip and film are merged here so that you can see the film as described by Lichfield. Listen to the full lecture here: n2t.net/ark:/85065/d7x63r8d
