Pinched optics cause ugly spikes to appear beside stars. They can occur in a variety of telescope types, but it's an especially common problem with SCT telescopes where it's caused by direct-contact dew heater rings. I tested Cosmic Clarity (a good, free AI-based deconvolution tool), and BlurXTerminator (the gold standard in paid deconvolution tools) against pinched optics. Neither fixed them, but Cosmic Clarity handled them better.
