So many people ask how they can get a real camcorder incorporated into their iOS-based live streaming solution. Usually Switcher Studio or one of the Teradek Live:Air solutions.
The answer with Switcher Studio, at this point in time, is you can't do it in real time. You may be able to get the video from your camcorder onto an iOS device or a computer screen, and then use screen sharing to get that video into Switcher Studio.
The problem is that it's now a half-second behind, or more. It does not match in terms of lip sync since the audio only goes into the mixer, and the minimal sync delay is built-in and not adjustable. If you have a shot where the exact timing of what you see is not critical, this may work.
But if you need to match lip sync from a camcorder, and the camcorder video needs to match time with other sources, like iOS cameras, then Teradek Live:Air is the solution.
Teradek offers several pieces of hardware that do this in their current line up, but I chose to get a discontinued piece of gear because it's purpose built for iOS video alone, and since it's been discontinued, the cost on the open market has gone down, so it can be had for half of the current offerings from Teradek (which do offer other features as well).
This was a simple test of the Teradek Clip connected over 2.4g WiFi to my iPad running Teradek's Live:Air software and streamed live to Facebook. (Facebook wouldn't let me pull down the HD video, only the SD, but you can still see how it works.)
