Purling front and back into a stitch is one way to increase a stitch. I have shown two methods in this video: purl front back, and purl back front. While both involve working two stitches into one stitch, the result looks different when the first stitch is worked into the back vs. the front. Working into the back of the stitch and then the front leaves the original stitch twisted, while working into the front and then the back does not twist the original stitch. You can see the difference in the video!
