In this video, my son and I install and review the Audio Technica AT85EP cartridge/stylus in our 1987 Technics turntable. Will it sound better than the older Pickering XSV/3003 already installed? And will an even older Shure Hi-Track sound even better? DISCLAIMER: I am no audiophile. Listening closely on headphones, I can tell the Pickering cartridge has a slightly louder output on some records. I might describe it as sounding "more spacious" while the AT85EP is more about "clarity in mids/highs" but even those comments are a stretch and possibly just my imagination... And I can't explain why the old Dual 1237 running at the wrong speed with an early 80s cartridge sounds better...
