For those who don't know, this is the latest Open Movie produced by the Blender Foundation. All VFX work is entirely done with Blender, a free 3D modeling and animation software.
To serve the purpose of their movie projects to do stuff and learn from it, I tried my own color grading on this movie in an attempt to create a more interesting visual style and to add some atmosphere to the overall look of the film. I'm not sure if it's overdone or not, but I like it a bit more that way than the original. To some extent it's certainly a matter of personal taste anyway.
Opinions on this video or on color grading in general are very welcome. I'm still practicing and trying to figure out the best approaches for my own future projects.

![Galaxy Formation Simulation using Fluids in Blender 3D
Did you know that smoothed-particle hydrodynamics (SPH) can not only be used for simulating fluids but also for making galaxy clusters? This video was made with a slightly modified Blender version (to lift some restrictions*) but without any additional code. It took around 24 hours and 64 GB of RAM to simulate. Best watched in 4K. Enjoy!

* To allow for more neighbor particles line 1542 in particle_system.c:

has been changed to:
#define SPH_NEIGHBORS 128000
A comment in the code explains the problem: If some [neighbors] arent taken into account, the forces will be biased by the tree search order. This effectively adds energy to the system, and results in a churning motion. ![Arecibo Observatory Collapse Simulation [8K]
This is a structural simulation of the collapse of the Arecibo Observatory in 2020. The simulation implements the three major failure events which ultimately led to the progressive failure causing the platform to fall into the dish.
The simulation is based in part on actual physical data such as mass and strength for the larger components, and in part on plausible estimations. What appears to be multiple simulations at different points in time is actually one large global simulation. Deviations from reality are to be expected due to the fact that the simulation software runs completely autonomous, only the main initial failure points have been triggered by a predefined script. Nothing is animated by hand.
