Altium Develop gives your whole team — engineers, procurement, and manufacturers — real-time visibility into your PCB designs so BOM blunders and manufacturing surprises get caught before they cost you: altium.com/develop?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=one-minute-pcb-design-reviews&utm_content=teardrops-thermals-and-bom-blunders
In this 1 Min PCB Design Review, Tech Consultant Zach Peterson digs into a community-submitted Bluetooth glasses PCB — a clever wearable project with some real technical issues hiding beneath the surface. Zach flags missing load capacitance caps on the crystal resonator, a copper pour that needs redrawing near the antenna keepout, absent thermal vias on the die-attached pad, and via pad annular rings that are dangerously close to breakout territory — all fixable issues that could cause serious problems if sent to fab as-is.
Beyond the layout, Zach also calls out schematic documentation and BOM organization problems that most assemblers won't accept. The manufacturer part number is being used as a footprint name instead of a dedicated parameter, and off-sheet schematic information isn't properly included in the project files.
