Optimal gameplay for each player is fairly simple. For each of the team of three, mashing as fast as possible is fastest, but because movement is very acceleration-based, mashing even half as fast as possible loses just one second. For the solo player, up and down dont affect speed, but moving to the right side as much as possible saves some time. Once the solo player is as far as they can go horizontally, holding right isnt necessary, and all thats needed is dodging.

After experimenting with the previous Lapras TAS I made, I found this score! 530 is the highest bonus point amount ever achieved, so unless 540 for bonus points of 540 for size are possible, this is getting close to the limit!

Kakuna is a tricky and precise Pokemon to get good shots of, and requires an Electrode to explode. I developed this setup so that manually blowing up an Electrode is unnecessary, and positioning is adjusted for getting a great shot.
Instructions:
1) Optional: Resetting the console ensures you have the same RNG each time, as the Kakunas can drop in different ways. This isnt a significant difference though, and its more efficient to just retry.
2) Skip the cutscene, hold R, and press C-right after crashing.
3) Pause on the correct frame. You can use the U and the light spot on the wall to check. If youre a bit off, you still may be able to get a decent score, or you can be picky and retry.
4) Let go of R, hold Z, and then unpause. Because of the FPS of the game, you can get two different sets of frames, and you need the correct one for this setup. There is no way to control this, but you can still get decent shots with the incorrect one.

This is now my third time improving the TAS record. Its possible that the score could still go higher, but most likely not by much if at all. As RNG affects the end result, I made a simple bot with Lua to repeat perfect inputs for each controller with different RNG values and had it run for over 17K games. Eventually, I got this result.
RNG constantly updates in Mario Party 2, so you can change the result by either waiting in the pre-game menu, or pause and unpause during gameplay. From my testing, it seems that the character who would win in the case of a tie is determined once the game starts, but the actual distance they get can still be affected by RNG until close to the end of the race. I also believe the reason for variance in distance has to do with the animation of the Fly Guy as you seem to be able to get more distance if the stall at the end occurs when its at peak height.
