This is a Tool-Assisted Superplay/Speedrun (often abbreviated to "TAS") where a player can edit, rerecord, and manipulate a game into doing whatever that person desires. Visit tasvideos.org for more information.
This game is simple and has no real strategies, just rotate as fast as you can without destroying your hand or controller. However, I thought it would be interesting to show various extremes with players rotating as fast as possible. They are as follows:
Game 1) DK rotates, others do nothing.
Game 2) DK rotates, one teammate rotates.
Game 3) DK rotates, two teammates rotate.
Game 4) Everyone rotates.
Game 5) DK does nothing, one teammate rotates.
As you can see from these games, it doesn't matter by how significantly you're outperforming your opponents as you still pull the rope at the same speed. The lone player also has triple strength, so it's most accurate to say that the team that has the highest average rotations is who pulls the rope.
However, when everyone is rotating as fast as possible, there still seems to be some back and forth and not in any sort of pattern, suggesting that there may be a random factor. My guess is that when both teams have the same average rotation speed that a random team is given a pull. This might be why it still often ends in a draw when all four players are fast in real games despite looking close to a win in either direction.
Also fun fact: the three different results all use different music.

While this level has a lot going on and multiple bonus areas, it mostly revolves around using a Koopa loop on the one along the stairs. A bit of extra points can be gained by grabbing a Star and taking the second pipe, but the rest of the level is simply going as fast as possible.

Huge shoutouts to Amagilly who reverse engineered the piece generation! I was informed of what appears to be the best seed possible among a couple hundred million! This is set via Gameshark.
This is my third TAS of this game mode, beating my most recent TAS by 3 seconds, and the seeded non-TAS by 1 second. A fair bit more time would need to be saved for 0:22, so this may be maxed out now.")

With piles of Koopas and Buzzy Beetles everywhere, there are tons of spots to go for the 8000 point bump. In fact, this TAS does 20 of them and just barely has enough time to complete the level in doing so. It makes for a really cool strategy.

In this TAS, the battle through Battle Now is won as fast as possible. Across both R1 teams, I believe that Vulpix against Sandshrew, Clefairy, and Bulbasaur is the only combination that allows for three first turn OHKOs. Everything else is either slower than one opponent or cant OHKO three different opponents. The actual execution of this is pretty basic RNG manipulation, although a OHKO Fire Blast against Clefairy is rare as you need to hit, to crit, and to get a high damage roll too.")
