Hey Birt! | Tandy 102 Turmoil Pt.2 – Corrosion repair, hidden damage, ‘The Gambler’ scenario @HeyBirt | Uploaded November 2021 | Updated October 2024, 6 hours ago.
Video sponsor: PCBWay: $5 for 2 layer PCBs with 24hr turnaround at pcbway.com
A friend sent me his Tandy 102 which had quit working after a hiatus in storage. At first glance the main board looked OK, but a closer inspection revealed hidden horrors. In Part 1 we get the machine booting again and get the LCD fixed up, but we didn’t solve all the problems.
In this episode we continue with the detective work, follow a few false paths. This job required considering ‘The Gambler’ scenario and making a tough call but we but do wind up with a working T102 for my friend in the end.
